EMCOR Services New England Mechanical Receives Two Safety Awards
EMCOR Firm Honored by Leading National Trade Association
VERNON, CT - February 13, 2009 - The Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) has presented two awards for excellence in safety performance to EMCOR Services New England Mechanical (NEMSI) -- an Accredited Quality Contractor Award (AQC) and a Safety Training & Evaluation Process (STEP) Platinum Award.

The ABC National Safety Excellence and National Safety Merit Awards recognize companies whose safety performance and programs are judged to be exemplary and companies that exhibit a continued commitment to jobsite safety. The AQC designation is given to contractors that train their workers well, offer good benefits, provide safe work environments and are strong community partners. To qualify as a STEP Platinum member, a company must have a total recordable indicent rate that is 25 percent below the industry average.
NEMSI's commitment to safety is part of a multi-tiered, integrated approach that includes a "Zero Accident Program", as well as a host of supporting initiatives, such as the "Be There For Life" program. This EMCOR effort is designed to educate employees and their families about the importance of safety through use of workplace posters, in company newsletters, mailings, and a number of other creative tactics intended to reach employees and their families. EMCOR also conducts regional "Target Zero" safety conferences, bringing together industry experts from its operating companies and partners to share information and successful strategies.
