New England Mechanical Receives Design-Build Recognition

EMCOR Firm Cited for Renovation Project

VERNON, CT – November 1, 2007 – New England Mechanical Services, Inc. (NEMSI), one of New England's leading mechanical services contractors, has been awarded first place in the 2007 Design/Build Award program sponsored by Contracting Business Magazine, a leading national publication for HVAC contractors.

NEMSI is a subsidiary of the EMCOR Group, Inc., a Fortune 500® leader in the design, installation and maintenance of mechanical and electrical systems, facilities and mission critical systems for a diverse range of businesses globally.

The firm was cited for its work on renovations and additions to 18 Temple Street in Hartford Connecticut, a building that was originally built in the 1800s and housed the city's first department store. NEMSI partnered with its sister EMCOR subsidiary, Tucker Mechanical, to successfully complete the mechanical installations on the project.

" The Contracting Business Design/Build Awards program honors the most creative and innovative work being done by commercial HVAC contractors across the nation," said Dana Finnegan, NEMSI president. "We are especially gratified to be recognized for a project that demonstrates how EMCOR companies can combine their talents to bring about an outstanding outcome for our clients."

The project involved a complex renovation of an eight-story building of loft apartments, along with several adjacent townhouse units and a community room built atop a parking garage. The tight urban site and significant program and esthetic considerations presented a host of technical challenges. Despite having to work on different building types with varying occupancy requirements, NEMSI and Tucker were able to design and install mechanical systems that provided the owner with flexibility, energy efficiency and low maintenance costs, while satisfying budget and schedule constraints.
